Spring walks in the forest

And picnics by a river,

Stretches herself out

Along beach sands---

Until winter snows

Close the door

On her

Velvet

Verdant

Hands.

Watched my breath---

Awake!

Rise and fall---

But you angel seemed there

Through it all.

Do you know when I am thinking about you?

Can you feel my longing across the deserts and the mountains?

Do you hear my voice in the surf tonight?

Calling you, whispering, “Love, love, I love you, how dearly I miss you.”

Or is it your voice I hear instead?

I Like This Room

I like this room or any room like it

Because it has the pages of many books

Opening to my eyes and touching my soul,

And the soft, tender reaches of my heart---

The steel-edge corners I try not to deny.
