DARK LIGHTNING

One crack of doom

Made him shake in

His silent room

But majestic rain made

Life a magic spell.

Near the open window

He would say with

Every bolt of thunder strewn :

""In this earthly hell

I will dwell.

Sunlight's Golden Metal

The Miracle of Marcellino

Sunlight's golden
Metal
Of my dark dreaming:
The Age Atomic.

The Sun:
Golden metal
Of dreams
Horn-blast my
Earthly screams!

Wake up the
World's dreadful
Radioactive fighting!

O living
Nightmare in
Golden light
In the golden
Metal of my
Age Atomic.

Veil of Love

Painting by Maxfield Parrish

You have removed the
Veil of Love---

Showed me the colors of
Night's Enchantment!

O Heavenly Earth!

Let's plant pansies and love each other
As the flowers do
Until

Summer's Breath is through.

Onion Ode

"Mine eyes smell onions: I shall weep anon."
"All's Well that Ends Well" by William Shakespeare

"I will not move my army without onions!"
Ulysses S. Grant

*

O
Onion!

One Unity!

O
Bulb
of
Eternity!

Feline

I called this

Wild cat

Bright eyes

(And humans

She sure did

Despise)

Came to

My door

With her

Mew cries

Then she left again

And gave sweet birth

To three little guys

Who will take her place

When she dies.

Love Is A Garden

Love is a garden that two lovers
Water
To make it grow,
But there will be weeds
And briars,
Chills and fires,
Mud and sapphires.

You make my soul serene
And my brain mad,
You are a soft pillow
Beneath my head,
A soft wind that rustles
My heart.

Spring is the meadowlark's song
And the butterfly's sigh upon the wind
While two lovers walk
Hand in hand.

Marshmallow Poem

The Kiss by Gustav Klimt 1909

Tonight I wonder

Where the moon is

And I think about your

Soft, flower-like

mouth.

But soft!

I think about

Your eyes and

 how

They see me

When we touch!

The softness that

 is

You

Touches me so

 softly.

We are two soft

Marshmallows

In love!

EVERYMAN

By Thomas Cole

I look down to see

If there is any breathing

In the dead orange cat

On the road.

I look at empty sockets

Of eyes and imagine

How they once saw the ground

Skippity-hop dance

Across the grass.

The tender furry body

Of the dead orange cat

Was killed by

One auto

Of us all.

We want love and love poems

By Dorothy Brooks

We want love and love poems,
Not these dry, straw-like
Intellectual fires from pale minds,
Trying to tell truth, politics, morals, nature!

O sickly fishes in the beautiful seas!

Imagine instead the pearly dreams
Of lovers dreaming of their lovers,
Or tasting the bitter and thirsty taste
Of their absent love.

The heart can sing only
When it loves and is loved!

You Censored Me

You censored me when I wrote how America was
Becoming a dictatorship
When I said that Fascism's
Terror was already here in our own backyard.

Homeland Security is making sure that we buy
And read the right books.
Homeland Security wants us to think and feel the right thoughts.

This is a perpetual war for our tax dollars
To fight terror.

Remember the war on drugs? Now we have more
Drugs than before the war.

WAR IS A DRUG!

Will we have more terror after the war?

I was censored when I wrote the truth.
I was censored when I criticized the Homeland.
I was censored when I disagreed with the government.

Blue Stars

Blue stars in Omega Centauri

I am beginning to see blue stars
Again
And they shine through me

Because of you they kindle
In me love and hope

These bright blue suns are
Tiny heavens on earth
And you are the queen

 of the
Earth---

O weary, bright, ivory queen
With your soft, white
Angel wings,

I love thee

more than all of
Our common despair.

While Staying In A Cottage Along Boulder Creek Just Before Spring

Each stone I threw
Missed its mark
As I stood
Like a mountain
Viking and watched
For that barque
To cross the river.

I threw an old corn cob
To give him a message
But the orange crusader
Who intruded my home
Left blue
With yellow
Eyes.

HOW OFTEN I HAVE PRESSED LIPS AGAINST WET FIGS

How often
I have pressed
Lips against wet figs or
Ripe peaches in summer
Tasting them
As virgin
Sweet first time
Womb uncovered
To any lips of mine .
How often
I have kissed
Lips against wet fingers or
Just plums
Dripping
Into my mouth
Singing lovely
Blossomy soft
For first time.

FLICK

Mick, I said, man's fingers flick their ashes
flick their ignitions flick their televisions
flick their radios flick their rifles
flick their dollars flick their credit cards
all men are mere mortal flickers flicking
their flick and it makes me sick
but I am not going to flick my bic or richard
slick, Mick, men even flick their chick they
flick her quick and it makes me sick the ways
men treat women like she was some inanimate
brick just good to flick their flick like they do their bic
and it's all so very sick and chic this flick
this trick.
