HEAVENLY QUESTIONS

Where is Heaven?

Who in the Hell knows.

What color is Heaven?

Is it blue, emerald, or gold?

Is it turquoise, white, or pink?

Does Heaven ever stink?

Who in the Hell knows.

Does it have Internet or TV?

Does it have McDonald’s or KFC?

Does it have pancakes or cheesecake?

Does it have elephants or tadpoles?

Does it have mirth or sorrow?

Does Heaven have water like Earth?

Where is Heaven?

Who in the Hell knows.

A DITTY ON THE FEATHERED FOWL

Although turkeys are very perky

They seldom get made into jerky.

People like to eat white meat,

But the brown meat is quite sweet.

I wonder how an eagle would taste

If it were the one to get the baste

Instead of the plump, feathered fowl?

Apologia Pro Vita Sua
Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1800)

The poet in his lone yet genial hour
Gives to his eyes a magnifying power:
Or rather he emancipates his eyes
From the black shapeless accidents of size--
In unctuous cones of kindling coal,
Or smoke upwreathing from the pipe's trim bole,
His gifted ken can see
Phantoms of sublimity.
